DescriptionGabapentin-lactam, a cell permeable compound, has been reported to reduce oxygen glucose deprivation-induced [3H]glutamate release in rat ischemia hippocampal slices. Glutamate has been an excitotoxin and its inhibition can decrease the number of surviving ganglion cells in vitro. In mechanistic studies it has been demonstrated that the neuroprotective characteristics of Gabapentin-lactam take effect via opening of ATP-sensitive potassium channels.Technical InformationAppearance: WhitePhysical State: SolidSolubility: Soluble in DMSO (>40 mg/ml), ethanol (>40 mg/ml), chloroform, dimethyl sulfoxide, DMF, methanol, and water (partly miscible).Storage: Store at room temperatureMelting Point: 84-89 °C (lit.)Boiling Point: 181 °C at 13 mmHgDensity: 1.06 g/cm3 (Predicted)Refractive Index: n20D 1.51 (Predicted)Safety and Reference InformationRTECS: CM0120000PubChem CID: 47457MDL Number: MFCD00177938EC Number: 451-630-1SMILES: O=C1CC2(CN1)CCCCC2
